How do I determine the size for my dog collar?
Every manufacturer and every brand that produces dog collars uses its own size categorization. This means that you have to pay close attention to which size you order for your dog. A size M can be a completely different size from one manufacturer than from another manufacturer.
To be clear, sizes like XS, S, M, L and XL say nothing about the final size of the collar. It is only an indication to distinguish the different sizes from each other.
To measure the correct collar size, use a flexible tape measure and measure the neck at the widest point, close to the shoulder of your dog. It is important that the dog collar is tight and yet comfortable (must never come loose), you should be able to put about 1 or 2 fingers between the collar and the neck of your dog.
The collar sizes in the size categories below (XS, S, M, L, XL) are measured from the first stitch hole to the last stitch hole. This is the neck size for which the dog collar is suitable. An example: neck circumference 27-35 cm means that 27 cm is the smallest stitch hole and that 35 cm is the largest and also the last stitch hole. If the neck size falls between two sizes, the larger size is the right choice.
Example: your dog has a neck circumference of 30 cm. A collar of 30-36 cm would be the right choice here (never choose the smaller version in this situation).
Note: Please do not use an old collar to measure the collar size. Every brand, material and product is different.
Collar sizes:
XS: 23 – 30cm
S: 30 – 35cm
