About GULA
The brand GULA was founded in 2021 by me, Martijn Dorhout Mees (Amsterdam) and my best friend Gula; a two-year-old Vizsla who loves the outdoors but can also sleep for hours. As an active dog, but generally like any dog, Gula loves to run, play and occasionally get dirty... (you know what I mean). This lifestyle is difficult to combine when you, and therefore your dog, love beautiful products.....
It is for this reason that the idea arose to develop dog accessories that are affordable, accessible, durable and, last but not least, good-looking!
All our collars and leashes are made by hand (by me, Martijn.. not Gula) in our studio in Amsterdam. Tested and approved by Gula herself and now available for all four-legged friends!
Did you know that... Martijn grew up in Indonesia. Gula is named after gula merah, which means brown sugar in Indonesian. Fun fact is that the goddess of healing and protector of dogs in Egyptian times was also called Gula!

Bij GULA, behandelen we onze trouwe viervoeters als waardige kompanen - zowel in stijl als in het dagelijks leven. Bij GULA draait alles om het samensmelten van functionaliteit en esthetiek. Geïnspireerd door de gedachte dat een hond een verlengstuk is van jezelf, hebben we de missie om accessoires te creëren die niet alleen de persoonlijkheid van jouw viervoeter weerspiegelen, maar ook passen bij jouw eigen stijl. Wij ontwerpen, produceren en verkopen hondenproducten van hoogwaardige kwaliteit die gemaakt zijn om lang mee te kunnen gaan. Een lifestyle gecreëerd en ontworpen voor zowel mensen als hond.
Onze belangrijkste overtuiging is dat kwaliteit en design hand in hand gaan en daarom bestand moeten zijn tegen het veelvuldig rennen, spelen, zwemmen en slapen van onze honden. GULA levert kwaliteit en maatwerk voor iedere eigenaar. Het past in de trend van actieve kleding en biedt mensen de mogelijkheid om hun honden te stijlen met de beste producten die zijn gemaakt met elementen en materialen die ze vertrouwen.
Bij GULA vieren we de individualiteit van elke hond, begrijpend dat ze meer zijn dan huisdieren; het zijn onmisbare gezinsleden en bronnen van onvoorwaardelijke liefde. Daarom richten we ons op het creëren van stijlvolle, duurzame accessoires die niet alleen de persoonlijkheid van de hond weerspiegelen, maar ook de stijl en smaak van hun trotse eigenaren.

Every dog deserves quality products because to look great you have to feel good. GULA uses the highest quality materials to create collars and leashes that stand the test of time, wear and tear and all weather conditions. The products are resistant to water, mold, rust and even your furry friend's teeth.

Sustainability is an important factor for GULA. We strive to process and produce as many sustainable products as possible. In addition to durability, the quality of the material is something we GULA find important. Not only with regard to the quality itself, but also what it contributes to our sustainability goals. That said, functionality and safety remain our top priority for both owner and dog.
